The 10 Best Roofers in Charleston (2026)

Start by checking licenses and insurance, confirming the contractor is permitted to work in South Carolina and carries liability and workers’ compensation coverage. Compare multiple written estimates, ask for recent references or photos of completed work, and pick a contractor who explains materials, timelines and warranty terms clearly.

Cost depends on roof size, pitch, material choice, complexity of the roofline and the presence of underlying damage that must be repaired. Local permitting, disposal of old materials and seasonal demand can also influence price, so request detailed line-item estimates from several contractors.

Make sure the contract lists the scope of work, materials, start and completion dates, payment schedule and warranty details in writing. Verify the contractor’s license and insurance, insist on permits where required, and avoid large upfront cash payments before work begins.

This ranking is based solely on public Google review data and was updated in 2026; businesses are ordered using a Bayesian-style score that weights average rating by review count so widely reviewed, highly rated firms rank higher. It does not reflect in-person inspections, price comparisons or private credentials beyond what appears in Google listings.
